Ban Harmful Herbicide use in Ventura County

All over the United States people are being exposed to harmful herbicides that in turn account for many health problems. These chemicals have been banned by many countries. In the United States they are still prevalent and being used everyday. Glyphosate is used most regularly and is one of the scariest chemicals to come in contact with. Glyphosate is implicated in birth and reproductive defects, endocrine disruption, cancers, genotoxicity, neurotoxicity, respiratory problems, nausea, fever, allergies and skin problems.

Denmark took the lead to ban Glyphosate back in 2003. The Dutch Parliament banned it in April 2014 for non-commercial use, to take effect by the end of 2015; France is set to follow. Brazil, one of the largest growers of glyphosate-tolerant genetically modified (GM) crops has now filed a law suit by Federal Prosecutors to ban glyphosate along with 8 other dangerous pesticides. El Salvador imposed a complete ban in February 2013, linking glyphosate herbicides to an epidemic of chronic kidney disease that has struck the region.

Glyphosate toxicity can no longer be ignored. While evidence of its harm to health and the environment grows, Monsanto is proposing to raise permitted residual levels of glyphosate; ensuing an even more toxic environment for all of us. This is not acceptable. Please sign to get these harmful herbicides out of Ventura County California.(This includes public schools, parks and our National Parks.)
