I believe that the smear tests should be lowered to age of 16 is because:
Firstly, by the time you are invited to your smear test when you become of age, it could be too late, this could mean you could potentially have abnormal cells that are cancerous
Secondy, The sooner women start having their smear tests, the sooner abnormal cells can be checked, in many cases, abnormal cells are not cancerours but there is always a small risk
Thirdly- Having the smear test early in life could prevent many deaths, many women don't expreirece symptoms of cervical cancer , but the sooner they are checked the better
Finally, Yes the smear test can be slightly uncomfortable but would you rather have a few seconds of discomfort or deal with an illness that could potentially end your life? Think of how your families and partener would feel if you told them you had cervical cancer.
