People are getting hurt in our community as a result of something very preventable, SPEEDING.  We need to come together to make a change. Turning a blind eye is not an option. Let's act before... and not afterwards, if you know what I mean.

LAST NIGHT - March 18th

Certainly many of you are aware of the crash that took place last night around 10pm. The sound nearly woke up the neighborhood. Thankfully all people involved appeared to be ok. However, let me briefly describe the horrific scene in the event you weren't able to see it. I believe 3 cars were involved in this accident, the driver in 1 vehicle was so delusional upon my arrival. Thankfully his side and front airbags deployed because the door was so heavily caved in, it took 4 neighbors to help pry the door ajar. The other vehicle was in even worst condition. It looked like someone began crushing a soda can mid-way, as this car had damage on the front, back and side. And the 3rd vehicle hit a light pole, I believe... There was definitely a power-line down and on fire as a result. Hence the power outage in the neighborhood. And even with these cars crushed in the middle of street and 50 plus people stand outside looking onward, other vehicles continued speeding/barreling down the same cross section, hardly slowing to the accident.

WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION.

Certainly this is not the first crash on this block. If you crack your window, you can hear the countless vehicles flying up and down Kester Ave. from Magnolia to the light on Camarillo St. midway to Ventura Blvd. It would be nice to pin point a time for this activity, but this is every day of the week and at all hours. Of course, some days and times are lighter than others, but speeding on Kester Ave. has become quite the norm.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

We need a petition to be signed by local residents addressing city official David E. Ryu (CouncilMember District 4) that this community needs a stop sign or speed bump or some measure of traffic calming.

Dear David E. Ryu,

The residents of Sherman Oaks, between Magnolia and Ventura Blvd. on Kester Ave. have a serious traffic concern. Vehicle's excessively speed through this porition of the community and as a result several accidents have taking place, most recently March 18th at 10pm. We need some type of traffic calming measure installed (stop sign, speed bump, traffic light) to aid in preventing furture accidents and curb the excessive speeding in this community.
