Save the Masonboro Sound From Sewage Contamination!

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority of Wilmington, North Carolina wants to put a sewer lift station just off the Masonboro Sound, near the last pristine sound waters and salt marshes in the area. The proposed development is a highly invasive and dangerous environmental move, plus it's unnecessary — there's available land farther from the water.

The Masonboro Sound has high biodiversity and natural value. It's been used by the UNCW Department of Marine Biology for research and many rare species have been identified there because of the clean waters.

It's not unreasonable to worry about a spill from this sewage lift, as there have been significant spills from other lift locations nearby. If that happens, sewage waste will go contaminate the last clean estuary in the area.
