we've got signatures, help us get to 100,000 by January 1, 2013
Our nation's leaders are taking us down a dangerous path, and though many of us see it, we don't know what to DO about it.
We worry. We rant and rave and wring our hands and...and...and...
Well, for many of us...too many of us...that's as far as it ever goes.
That changes now, if you want it to.
In signing this document, you are serving notice to the President and the Congress of the United States of America that you see what's happening, and that you will hold them accountable.
Just as importantly, you are making a commitment to hold yourself accountable.
This is an Affirmation of the United States of America.
We're still the greatest Republic in the history of the world, regardless of what our enemies, both foreign and domestic may think.
And we're worth taking a stand for.
This Affirmation is a symbol, a rallying point, and a throwing down of the gauntlet. For all that, it is just the beginning.
But, we have to start somewhere...
We are, concurrently with this petition, also working with cities, counties, and states nationwide to have June 21st proclaimed "Affirmation Day." We are having great success with that project. It is absolutely imperative to make the distinction between that project - the Proclamations - and this petition. Proclamation by any town, city, county, municipality, State, or any other public entity does NOT imply agreement with or endorsement of this petition. This petition is the expression of opinions by INDIVIDUALS who agree with it's content, and no connection with any proclamation of Affirmation Day is either intended or implied.]
To the President, Congress, and the People of the United States of America
Nearly two and a half centuries ago, our forefathers began a great experiment that came to be called the United States of America.
The seeds of freedom were planted in the soil of discontent, at the feet of a tyrant. They were sown in the fields of conscience and conviction, watered with the sweat of patriots and the blood of heroes, and we reaped a harvest of Liberty. Our freedoms were neither easily gained, nor passively maintained.
We, the people, have lost sight of the values which have thus far determined our fortunes. We have become too comfortable and too corrupt. "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" has been redefined to mean amorality, licentousness and the freedom to do whatsoever we choose, without accountability.
