Vancouver Port Strike Must End

From a Private Citizen, Tax-Payer, Consumer, therefore member of the groups that ultimately fund the port and the Truck Drivers.

Respectful request to the Striking Drivers,

We agree that all working people need to be compensated fairly and that working conditions need to be reasonable. We also agree that in some cases, a fair compromise is elusive, and drastic actions need to be taken.

At this point, a threshold has been crossed. This job action is adversely affecting members of the general public, from the average consumer, right up to Canada’s International Reputation. We feel that if this job action is to continue any longer, it will ultimately serve against the best interests of the drivers.

We therefore respectfully request that you return to work no later than Monday, March 24th, 2014, for a 30 day period, while continuing negotiations with your employers for a fair arrangement. By April 24th, if no agreement has been made, consider resuming the strike again, and to consider additional brief returns. We feel that this will allow your strike to be more effective with your employers, yet manageable for us, the members of the General Public.

In exchange, we will continue to be supportive in your efforts of fair working conditions.

Respectfully,

-the undersigned
