Dear Prime Minister,
We the undersigned are asking you to take the lead and protect our citizen's health, safety and our precious water and land resources from the irreversible damage wrought by the shale gas industry.
In the United States today, there are over one thousand cases of well contamination documented and related to this industry. in Alberta,Farmers living next to this fracking well pad sites have the alarming experience of being able to set their tap water afire. In British Columbia at the Fort Nelson Nation have observed earthquakes and multible tremors in the areas where these fracking projects are in operation.
Further, new studies have shown that people living near these sites have higher rates of cancer, neurological disorders, repiratory problems and low birth weights in children.These are just some of the many toxic effects caused by the fracking industry.
We ask that you undertake to protect our children and grandchildren by enacting a ban and or moratorium on this industry and preserve our country's legacy for the children of the future.
