Stop Victimizing The Victims!!

    Stop Victimizing The Victims!!

A Fight For Survival: The Incident

The brazing incident took place on 14 September 2020, in Hathras district, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The heinous and nerve-wracking incident happened, when the victim, a 19 years old Dalit girl, went to a farm field to collect cattle fodder, the latter was brutally raped, tortured, and strangulated by four men, who belong to the upper-caste, Thakur community.
The victim was vigorously constricted away by a wrapped dupatta (a piece of cloth) around her neck, ceaselessly injuring her spinal cord.
Eventually, this process placed the victim into a paralysis state, which later, was justified by the doctor, stating it a cause close to permanent damage.
The accused was then smothered when she clearly started resisting their rape attack on her. Her mother, hearing the lament of her beloved child, came running to the field in search of her, and later discovered her into an unconscious state, lying down in the ground.

    An Inertia: Unheard And Unsolved
Following this incident, the victim was first taken to the Chand Pa Police Station, where according to the deceased family, the police dismissed her claims and mortified the family members. Later, police recorded the victim's statement on 22 September 2020, when the victim resuscitated, days after the incident.

Initially, the victim was admitted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Aligarh. The doctors thereby, proclaimed her condition to be critical with a severe injury in her spinal cord. Later, she was shifted to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, when condition declined.
The victim took her last breath after facing the incessant turmoil, on 29 September 2020.
The autopsy report stated that the victim might have died due to a deep injury in the cervical cord caused while strangling her (with a dupatta) to choke to death. The postmortem then reported some old ruptures in private parts, clearly indicating it a signal of no rape.

Days after the chain of events, the news spread widely in various social media platforms, demanding justice for the accused. Despite this, the Hathras District Magistrate, UP'S Information & Public Relations, and Agra Police, declared it a Fake News. Adding to this, according to a UP Police Officer, no sperm traces were found in the forensic report. Also accusing that people had tried to twist this incident to develop a caste-based panic and tension amongst the mass. He also disclosed that the victim wasn't raped by the former, and she was capitulated to death due to severe neck injuries.

    The Aftermath:
The victim was cremated on the eleventh-hour by the UP Police. At night, the victim's cremation was performed at 2:00 a.m. on 29 September 2020.
The deceased family alleged that the cremation took place without having their consent and that during the process, they were being locked up in their house, uninformed and clueless. Opposing to the family's statement, Mr. Prashant Kumar, ADG (law & order) said that these are just accusations against the UP Police Administration and the family's consent was there throughout the cremation process.

Is this deserving? Is it just a misconception against the UP Police?
