Urge These Medical Schools to Phase Out Animal Testing!

Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga stand alone as the only remaining medical schools to use live animal laboratory testing. All other medical schools have phased out animals in favor of modern human-patient simulators and similar high-tech, cruelty-free measures.

Cardiologist Dr. John Pippin, M.D. of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine believes that human simulators are vastly superior to live animals: "[Simulators] allow each student to repeat procedures, hone skills, and learn at his or her own pace — without harming animals, whose anatomies differ vastly from the human anatomy."

Johns Hopkins and the University of Tennessee pride themselves on their medical schools. It is time for them to stop using cruel and outdated test methods in favor of the modern, humane solutions their contemporaries have adopted. Please sign the petition to urge these medical schools to phase out animal testing!

We, the undersigned, are concerned with the continued use of live animal testing at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. As you may know, all other medical schools in this country have phased out animals in favor of modern human-patient simulators and similar high-tech, cruelty-free measures.

We believe that it is is time to stop using cruel and outdated test methods in favor of the modern, humane solutions all other schools have adopted. We respectfully urge you to phase out animal testing at your school as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
