Parents & Caregivers Against the Proposed Childcare Modernization Act

I believe that children and families deserve the right to have access to caring, loving and nurturing home environments, rather than be forced into an institutionalized environment.  I disagree with the legislations view on private caregivers, and believe that by forcing everyone to institutionalize will make it much harder for hard working parents to access quality care, limiting the amount of spaces available and forcing the few licensed daycares to raise their fee's.  Although this legislation may "weed out" a few of the providers that are not up to par, it would result in a higher rate of those going under the law to compensate for their lost wages, it would prevent top quality care providers from doing a job they love and excel at, and furthermore it would prevent parents and children  from accessing caregivers they trust, among many other issues.

Wether you are against some or all of the childcare modernization Act , your support is greatly appreciated.

those like me would be limited to 5 children including your own, where as with the current legislation we are allowed 5 plus our own, this being said I not only would have to loose 2 children whom I have grown to love and care for, I would also loose a large portion of my monthly income, which in turn would result in less than sufficient supplies for the daycare, and less financial stability for my family. I also do not feel that it is right to force all providers to obtain licensing, that would require all proivders to obtain clientel through a regulated agency, agencies take a portion of your earnings, aswell as choose a lot of your day... to day routine, My clients come to me because they prefer home-based care to that of institutionalized care, I love my job and would hate to conform to the governments view of "safe childcare" when in the past the government itself has made some very poor judgement calls on behalf of parents - which in turn has resulted in fatalities. It is not right or fair that providers like myself be penalized for mistakes of others. I am sure there are a lot of shady providers, but I believe that parents should also be urged to use their best judgement call when It comes to choosing a quality provider that you can trust, rather than just settling because they have "space" or they are "cheaper" etc.
