The Sunshine Coast Regional Council has paid a consultant to formulate a draft plan which involves excessive use of concrete paving in our Lions Park%2C and in particular%2C a 500 metre path through to Stumers Creek Road%2C to be constructed parallel to our watercourse%2C through the wide grassed area bordered by native trees and shrubs planted and maintained by a volunteer enviromental group%2C The Watercourse Warriors%2C since the project commenced in 2006.
Construction of this path would ruin the ambiance of this peaceful walk which is much loved and frequented by locals and visitors%2Fdog walkers%2Fbird watchers%2Ffamily walks.
Consultants and Councillors who do not live at Coolum Beach have decided that such a path will benefit cyclists. It is preferable that any such path be built as a continuation of the existing one which terminates at the northern end of the Lions Park.
The Lions Park-Stumers Creek Project was started in 2006 by a local resident who formed the Watercourse Warriors%2C a
group of 9 volunteers who contribute in excess of %2420%2C000 labour per annum.
