Lyft has recently announced that it will be capping Lyft promoter payouts on a weekly basis. Promoters for the Lyft platform work on 100% commission basis as independent contractors. This will essentially rob hard working promoters of justly earned commission by supplying Lyft with income through generating new users to their platform. Lyft claims that this is being done to counteract fraud. We have to question the legitimacy of this as capping payments does not actively prevent fraud. There are many other methods that could be established to prevent fraud through verification practices. Help us let Lyft realize that a practice of capping commissions will only curtail the hard work of their promoters and makes them appear greedy by accepting new riders over the cap without compensating the promoter who supplied them.
