It is wrong for a school to suspend children if they are gay or if they are supporting gay people. I thought schools were a place for children to grow and learn, not a place where being yourself and standing up for what you believe in will get you suspended. Behavior like this should NOT be allowed in middle schools.
An 8th grade boy and an 8th grade girl were both suspended at Falcon Creek Middle School because they had asked someone of the same sex to their formal dance. After this happened, students started a petition for others to sign who were against this decision and some students even wrote GAY PRIDE on their arms to show support. The students who wrote on their arms and who started the petition were all suspended, a total of 42 students. Granted kids are not allowed to write on their arms at this school, they were still supporting their gay friends and still got suspended for it.
This behavior makes me sick. This school is basically teaching kids that it is not okay to be themselves or to stand up for what they believe in. This needs to stop. Let's put an end to this!
