Ban the possession, distribution, sale and consumption of shark fins in the City of Calgary

  • by: Hannah Quinn
  • recipient: Mayor of Calgary, Naheed Nenshi

In just a few short years sharks have become threatened due to commercial shark-finning, where they are caught, their fins cut off and then thrown back into the water alive to die. This is cruel and wasteful, but, more importantly, is putting some of our sharks on the endangered list. If we lose our sharks, the impact on the oceans will directly affect every living being on our planet. We need a global movement that starts with every community taking a stand against shark-finning. Let's be an example to the world by being one of those communities.

COMMUNITY TASK FORCE WORKING NOW TO GATHER INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THE BAN. LET THE MAYOR KNOW THAT WE, THE PEOPLE, ARE FOR THIS BAN!

Dear Mayor Nenshi,
We, the people who signed this petition, want you to know that we care very much about the environment and the impact we are making on it. We want to make the changes that are needed to make sure there is a planet left to protect. This ban is one small step towards a better world. Please support this ban along with your council members and be an example to the world!
Thank-you,

Hannah Quinn and 1026 others :)
