Why I’m Voting for Snoopy

I am choosing to make a stand for what I believe in and act on it. I refuse to spend time debating who is the better of two lesser candidates. Choosing either will not make the difference I want to see in the way our country is run. We can argue about who has the better plan, or who is telling the truth (or lies less), but it just doesn’t matter. We are quibbling over meaningless promises.

I want to see real change, not fancy shows promising it. No more ‘trumped’ up rhetoric, or ‘clintonian’ lies can take my belief and trust in the people’s power. There is no one powerful enough; no hero or savior, that can take office who can do more than ‘we the people’. By voting for Snoopy, we are making a statement about the crisis our country is in, and that we are now actively doing something about it. 

How Voting for Snoopy will Work

Most of us think we have only two choices to vote for. But that is far from true. We can vote for anyone. Each of us can add anyone else’s name on the ballot by simply checking the box ‘other’ and writing in ‘Snoopy’.  But how would this possibly help? Are you wasting your vote by doing this? No. Absolutely not.

Voting for Snoopy as our next president represents our mistrust in those those ruling over us today. Snoopy is the lost face of trust and right in our government. He represents something ‘other’ than what we are seeing in our political system today. By voting for Snoopy we make a statement about what we don’t want, and open the door to others who should be running for president.

What if, instead of voting for an actual president on election day, we each chose to send a powerful message by making “Snoopy for President” the messenger? How might this give those of us who are dismayed with the elective options to have a solid reason to go to the voting polls and feel like their vote could actually make a difference?

Imagine millions and millions of us consciously making this choice - choosing to make a statement. Imagine the reverberations that would occur around the world as we send the message that we will no longer put people in office that we do not believe in. What would happen?

Imagine if we give the other half of the population; those who are disenfranchised and feel their vote makes no difference due to their impoverished situations. By participating in the “Vote Snoopy for President” campaign, we give everyone a renewed sense of self empowerment and a fresh reason to vote. Even the poorest of poor among us can directly make an impact. 

What would this do to place a new charge into ‘we the people’? Imagine how the news media would turn this into conversation they don’t know how to manage. It is a powerful way of saying ‘no more’ to a U.S. political circus that has nothing to do about making our country or the world a better place. Voting for Snoopy, instead of an actual person, creates a way out of our predicament.

Think about it. What if, instead of voting for an actual president on election day, we each chose to send this powerful message? What if we stepped into our polling booths, clicked ‘other’ and filled in “SNOOPY FOR PRESIDENT”? What would change?

What Voting for Snoopy Will Change

By using the metaphor of ‘Snoopy for President’, we create a powerful message that will shift our thinking about personal and collective ownership of our government. It allows us to put "WE THE PEOPLE" back into the driver's seat as the true collective owners who rule our democratic nation.

If Snoopy actually won the race, our present politically-manipulated, media-controlled, elitist-run system would not know what to do. Their game could no longer be run under its existing rigging. The system would break down, forcing a redesign of our voting process. Only this time, the design would be coming from us and not from an elitist few. 

A recasting of our votes would be forced to happen. But by this time, our country’s cultural consciousness will have shifted. The world will have heard our cry. We will begin to recognize how many citizens are disgruntled like ourselves. We will see more clearly how many of us are struggling. It will be a wake up call with teeth. Something that won’t be just talked about, but will actually generate positive change.

Our choice to vote for Snoopy becomes a message coming straight from us. ‘We the People’ telling the world how we want to be governed. Deeper conversations about democracy will arise everywhere, and new faces will come onto the scene, giving us voting alternatives to choose who takes the responsibility (not the privilege) for residing in the Oval Office.
