We the people demand responsible leadership of our police agencies. The leadership displayed by Chief Thomas Jackson over the past 4 years and especially during the current crisis that was created by the Police shooting and killing of an unarmed 18 year old member of the community has at best been highly questionable.

We the people charge that Chief Thomas Jackson has from the very beginning of this incident remained aloof and unapologetic to a grieving community. We the people further allege that Chief Thomas Jackson has repeatedly engaged in blowing smoke screens, doing damage control and all the while attempting to find ways to excuse the actions of the offending Officer while having little to no regard for the emotions and frustrations being felt by a grieving community.

We the people feel that the attitude and total lack of transparency displayed byChief Thomas Jackson, is more like that of the commander of an occupying force than that of a Police Chief that is concerned with the well being of the members of the community that he has taken an oath to protect and serve. We the people further allege that Chief Thomas Jackson’s actions, statements and overall handling of this incident has left the distinct impression that he is far more concerned with finding a reason why it was ok for this to happen, than he is in seeing that justice is served.

We the people herby give a resounding vote of no confidence in the leadership abilities displayed by Chief Thomas Jackson and the divisions that his actions have engendered in this community. We hereby demand the immediate resignation of Chief Thomas Jackson and request that he be replaced with someone who will provide compassionate leadership that reflects a concern for the members of the community as well as the staff of the Police Department.
