Protect LGBT Students Against Anti-LGBT Colleges!

Since 2013, 56 colleges and universities have applied for and received exemptions from the dictates of Title IX. These exemptions allow higher education institutions to discriminate against LGBT students. Let's be very clear about something: No college is obliged to go along with Title IX. They just have to say "no" to federal funds. But some colleges are getting away with accepting taxpayer money AND also slamming their doors on gay and lesbian teenagers. Please join me in demanding that the United States Department of Education release the names of the colleges and universities that have received Title IX exemptions to discriminate against LGBT individuals. College-bound LGBT students have a right to know where they are not welcome or where they are likely to be abused.

To the United States Department of Education:

We the undersigned are appalled to learn that schools receiving Title IX funds are allowed to be exempt from Title IX policies. Specifically, it appears that 56 colleges and universities have received execmptions, from you, that effectively allow them to discriminate against LGBT individuals. This is wrong on a number of different levels, but what we ask for today is simply that you release the names of these colleges and universities so that gay and lesbian teenagers who wish to go to college may know where they are not welcome.
