Support Nevada's Ban on Dangerous Exotic Pets!

Bill SB 245, recently introduced in the Nevada Senate by Michael Roberson, will classify certain exotic animals as "dangerous" and ban them from being sold, bred or kept as pets. The list of dangerous animals would include primates, alligators, raccoons, poisonous snakes, hyenas, cheetahs, grey wolves, lions, bears, tigers and leopards. Exceptions would be made for certain accredited organizations and businesses such as wildlife sanctuaries, animal shelters and zoos.

SB 245 was introduced mainly to address public safety issues. Last summer, two chimps escaped from their enclosure and went on a rampage in Las Vegas. A police officer shot one chimp when he began jumping on top of cars and aggressively approaching onlookers, and the other was moved to an Oregon sanctuary.

Robeson is also concerned with the welfare of exotic pets. He believes it is unfair to keep wild animals locked up in a home, and most private owners don't have the expertise to properly care for these pets.

Please sign the petition to urge Nevada legislators to ban dangerous exotic pets in the state!
