Demand An End To The Sure Talk Time Scam!

If you are a Sure Customer and regularly top up your phone using their talk time system, you will surely understand the frustration currently caused.

Originally when buying a Sure top up, after you have typed the pin into your phone, you could dial the *#100# number in which it would display when your current data, voice calls and texts would run out, so say for instance you bought a 20 pound top up, the data, talk time and texts would last for a month without eating into your credit (depending on how much you use your phone) after that month if you use your phone without toping up, it takes a matter of minutes for your credit to be eaten away if using data - this is how Sure make their money but the saving grace was that if you dialed *#100# you would always know when to buy more talk time so you were not hit by this scam.

Now what Sure have done without telling anyone is to take the option of knowing when your credit is about to run out away!  So if you dial the *#100# number you do not get given an expiry date, so the only alternative is when you buy your talk time to make a note somewhere with when you next need to top up to avoid being scammed by Sure!

People are busy and don't always have the time to do this and the talk time system works in a way where even if you write down or take note of when you need to top up again, it can run out a day or so earlier than expected!  This is a scam, so they can eat into your credit as they know many people do not take notes of their credit.

We rang Sure to see what was happening and why they were doing this, a tongue tied member of staff couldn't give us a straight answer and was stumbling on his words for most of the phone call, he did however say they might be looking at again introducing the option of being able to call to check your expiry time, however on a second phone call to Sure this was heavily denied by a member of their team!

Big phone companies in the UK actually have a system in place where a few days before peoples talk time/ data is about to run out, they receive a warning text a few day before, or say they are about to go over there allowance of Data etc.

What we want to achieve in this petition is for Sure to stop scamming their customers, to put into place a fair system with the original option of being able to call to see when your credit runs out but also to have a system in place that warns customers they are about to go over their data allowance and like other companies send out a text a few days before your credit is about to run out!
