Anthony Cumia, Gregg Opie Hughes, and Jim Norton have been a part of our lives for many, many years. I remember that I would get off the bus 4 stops before my friend, and caught not even 10 minutes more of the show than my friend. It was something special to me. I had a dream of being a writer/director that I never followed. I always said that I would know I made it if they would interview me. During my darkest days of depression they helped me through. I am sure we all have our own stories, but I digress. They matured as we did. They were all about the 55 gallon challenge, and pushing the WOW movement. As we grew, and were no longer interested in those things as much. Neither were they. The interviews became much better, and the hijinks were far enough apart that they brought us back to a different time.
Anthony has always been out spoken, and exciting to listen to. Between Opie, and Anthony’s differences they played so well off each other. Anthony with his voices, and over the top opinions made some of the listeners not agree with him. More than once a black caller would say that he might disagree with his approach, but he was correct. Other times a Black individual would call, and say they disagree, but still find him to be a great on air personality.
What he said was in no way racist. He in no way used a racist, or bigot slur of any kind. The individual could have been white, purple, black or green. It didn’t matter. They were just angry words. Who hasn't said something bad? I know I have. People lash out when they are angry. You are Satellite radio. If nothing else you should be protecting all your employees freedom of speech. That is why we PAY, to listen. We love this show, but if Anthony is not put back on the show I would urge everyone to cancel there subscription. Opie, and Jimmy. It is not because we don’t love you. We will always, but XMSiris needs to know they made a mistake.
