Tell the University of Manchester to FULLY DIVEST from fossil fuels

"If it is wrong to wreck the climate, then it is wrong to profit from that wreckage. We believe that educational  institutions that serve the public good should cut their ties to the fossil fuel industry.

Divestment is the opposite of an investment – it simply means getting rid of stocks, bonds, or investment funds that are unethical or morally ambiguous. Universities put billions in these kinds of investments to generate income. Fossil fuel investments are a risk for both investors and the planet, so we’re calling on institutions to divest from these companies. Fossil fuel divestment takes the fossil fuel industry to task for its culpability in the climate crisis." - gofossilfree.org

Students at the University of Manchester have been campaigning for full divestment from fossil fuels for over 3 years.

Over a third of UK universities have committed to full divestment, however the only response from Manchester has been a re-writing of their Social Responsibility Policy in June 2017. It now states the university must look closer at their investments with ethical and environmental responsibility in mind.

We are asking the University of Manchester to stick to its word and FULLY DIVEST NOW.
