Justice for Simona Tibu. Stop Police Brutality

  • by: Ellicia Carmen

There is a growing need to stop police brutality and abuse of power in Canada. The rights and safety of Canadian citizens needs to be preserved. There needs to be an accountability system in place that insures that those in power and authority do not abuse power.

At this time the officer is completely off the hook. And soon there may not even be record within the system files that any such incidence occurred. As they are now applying to expunge all records of the assault charges. Meanwhile Simona suffers greatly.

Together we can overturn the ruling that dismissed the Sherriff of all assault charges, which was made without hearing the evidence. Simona deserves the right to justice and to a full hearing (trial) to bring forward evidence against the Sherriff who assaulted her.

Let's help insure justice is served to Simona Tibu, who was allegedly assaulted and sexually assaulted by an Alberta Sherriff during a routine traffic stop.

I was shocked to witness the crown prosecutor ask the judge to dismiss all charges against the Sherriff, without calling for evidence. Ignoring Simona's request to stay charges until more disclosure comes. This disclosure consisting of: her testimony, the medical records, pictures and several witnesses.

There is a lot of evidence to bring forward that they do not have from the police investigation, as she reserved her right to remain silent at the time.

It appears the officer is completely off the hook. And soon there may not even be record within the system files that any such incidence occurred. As they are now applying to expunge all records of the assault charges. Meanwhile Simona suffers greatly.

We call to Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice in Canada: to bring justice for Simona, and to create an effective system of accountability, within the justice system, that preserves the rights and safety of all Canadian citizens.

At the present time, by all accounts and appearances, law enforcement officers are tolerated to lose their temper and self-control, and to act criminally by putting people in handcuffs, so the civilian is defenseless, then beat them up. They then easily excuse themselves by calling it 'resisting arrest'.

It seems officers are permitted to act criminally, while members in the justice department turn a blind eye or assist them in the cover-up, or just drop charges without proper due process. Loyalty to members appears to be the 1st priority before citizens. This needs to stop!!

Please act to help insure justice for Simona and by doing this creating a precedent for all peoples in Canada.
