TELL FDA: Remove Dangerous PPD from Hair Dyes!

A few months ago I had my hair colored and within 2 days I was in the emergency room! This was not my first time coloring my hair and I've never had an allergic reaction to anything. BUT my scalp felt like it was on fire. I had blisters on my neck and arms and I felt sick. To make bad matters worse, it triggered a case of Rosacea on my face with stinging and swelling of the skin and my eyes. Unbeknownst to me, I had a sudden allergic reaction to an ingredient common in most hair dyes known as p-Phenylenediamine or PPD.

Despite months of continual medical intervention, I'm still suffering from what feels like a poisoning. After a quick internet search I realized that as bad as my reaction is, I was also lucky to be alive!

PPD is in almost all hair colorants. Manufacturer's recommend everyone do a 24-48 hour patch test but that's not good enough. Sometimes it takes a week for a reaction to occur.

The quick and deadly possibilities of this chemical should make it banned in any product! People have had serious reactions. Sometimes ending up in a coma and even death!

Please join me is demanding that the FDA ban the use of PPD!

Attn: U.S. Food and Drug Administration

We (the undersigned) are asking that the FDA put an immediate ban to the chemical (para-phenylenediamine) also known as PPD.

This chemical is literally killing people. Allergic reactions are on the rise and the use of PPD goes unchecked in the manufacturing process of hair colorants.

A patch test is not enough. These reactions are swift, and happen to people who have been coloring their hair for years!

Please protect the health and safety of our citizens and ban PPD immediately!

Sincerely,
