Save the Nemacolin Post Office

The abrupt and unwarned suspension of service, at the Nemacolin Post Office, is completely uncalled and unwarranted. The decline in service, over the year, is now the least of our problems.

We need to band together and demand service be restored.

To whom shall listen,

Due to the abrupt suspension, of service, at the United States Post Office, in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania, the citizen of Nemacolin are demanding explanations. This came with no warning and has caused a lot of concern, among all citizens.

At the end of business hours, on August 14, a sign was placed on the door, advising of the suspension of service. The news quickly spread, amongst the community, that evening, with several persons seeing the sign, first hand, the next morning.

From what we have been told, by several former and current USPS employees, who shall remain nameless, for their protection, is that the PMR on site filed a report to the Department of Health. Whatever issues may, truly, be going on, in the Nemacolin office, we demand an update to the situation and a quick resolution, ending with the office re-opened. Several calls have been made, by citizens and media, to obtain information, and there has been no word.

Nemacolin is home to 937 people (US Census 2010), in 431 homes. This number may not be staggering, but please understand, that number includes a large percentage of the elderly, also to be considered, many persons do not have a means of transport to Carmichaels. Carmichaels, being the next town over and the location of the post office we have been told to acquire our mail.

It is unreasonable, for the USPS, to expect everyone to continue going to Carmichaels, for their mail. We are standing united, as the Community of Nemacolin, to demand that service be restored and a resolution, be found, whether it be facilities or personell.

Thank you.
