Seize! Detain! Kill! -- Sri Lanka Readying Legislation to Kill its Dogs!

Say NO to ITEM 14 of Sri Lanka’s Draft Dog Registration Act which would give the Provincial Councils the legality to kill ALL straying dogs!

Government Officials led by the Secretary to the Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Mr. Kamal Padmasiri, want as per ITEM 14 of the above Act, ALL STRAY DOGS to be SEIZED by EVERY Local Authority, DETAINED and KILLED if not claimed by payment in 3 Days!!

The Hon. Subject Minister Faiszer Musthapha categorically says that he STANDS by the current No-Kill Policy on Dogs, but including Item 14 in the Dog Registration Act will clearly violate the No-Kill Policy, making his stance hollow and meaningless.

One nasty human being, supported by a few others, cannot decide on the fate of Sri Lanka’s stray dogs who have had the benefit of the No-Kill Policy, but not the National Sterilization Programme.

Please email Hon. Minister Faiszer Musthapha protesting the inclusion of Item 14 in the Draft Dog Registration Act that would legally enable the killing of all straying dogs in the country. This would be the beginning of the end of the No-Kill Policy on Dogs too!

His email is: minister@pclg.gov.lk or Musthapha.Faiszer@gmail.com

Please lodge your protest with the Minister NOW, before it is too late and before the fate of our dogs is sealed by some 21st Century inhumane brutes, trying to drag Sri Lanka to the Medieval Age!

Predominantly a Buddhist Country, Sri Lanka enjoys a NO-Kill Policy on Dogs since 2006 and has a National Dog Sterilization Programme annually funded by the Government in place since 2008.
