Zofia Cisowski, Mother of Late Robert Dziekanski

JUSTICE FOR MOTHER OF LATE ROBERT DZIEKANSKI

Target:
Provincial Government of British Columbia
Sponsored by:

To: The Honourable Gordon Campbell,
       Premier of British Columbia;
       The Honourable Michael de Jong,

       Attorney General for British Columbia

We the undersigned do hereby call upon, the Honourable Gordon Campbell, Premier of British Columbia, and the Honourable Michael de Jong, Attorney General for British Columbia, to re-open the investigation into the death of Robert Dziekanski, involving the 4 RCMP officers at Vancouver International Airport.
We demand that an Independent Special Prosecutor be appointed to determine the matter in accordance with the Criminal Code of Canada.
We strongly believe that the previous RCMP investigation and Criminal Justice Branch Report was deficient and focused on finding evidence, which would blame the victim, Mr. Dziekanski.
It is time to stop blaming the victim and take an unbiased and independent look at all evidence.
We believe public confidence in the administration and repute of justice has been seriously undermined.
Justice must not only be done, but be seen to be done, on behalf of Zofia Cisowski and all Canadians.

As a recent immigrant to Canada, I was shocked by the RCMP's reluctance to investigate this ghastly occurrence. A special prosecutor is urgently needed.

It is absolutely vital that inexorable corruption within the ranks of our Police force/s, including our Justice System, including our Government - at all levels and sub-levels, need to be effectively dealt with. Let it happen with the Dziekanski tragedy by rallying to do what is right and proper for a change, so that perhaps future improprieties are prevented. The so-called “authority” of our AUTHORITIES MUST be properly held in check. It's high time to be collectively courageous.

These four rcmp officers are a disgrace to all law enforcement officers. They did not take the proper actions in regards to this incident. A interpretur should have been made available long before police arrived to help this poor man.Proper actions were not taken, instead extreme measures were taken wrongfully on the officers part. This is a tragic incident, and all four rcmp officers should be held accountable for their sickening actions. Just minutes after their arrivle they taser the distressed man? He was of no harm to them, but was only frusturated and scared. These officers were obviously not trained and careless. I am sickend to say i am in school for policing. These men give a bad name to all canadians and law enforcement officals. Proper punishment should be given, i am so apauled.

The actions taking by the RCMP were appalling-something definitely wrong with how they are trained or their interpretation of how to carry out their training in response - they appear very eager to exert authority through force and not much use of intellect - certainly assert no compassion or understanding of human rights. This is Absolutely Unacceptable, embarrassing to BCers, and must be rectified to ensure citizens can trust police officers to uphold their rights and allow them respect and dignity.

Only one who personally had an encounter with the "law" enforcement can tell how lying cops can be. Once somebody was "treated" by them will never believe an official story as it comes from the courtroom. If there is no justice for Robert and his mother where everything in this tragedy was filmed and documented and yet the killers are still collecting the wages then Canada will be viewed and presented in the world as the country where people in the uniforms can kill anybody and nothing will be done about it. Shame on every police officer. Shame on Canadian justice system.

I hope to be allowed to add a submission to www.civilrightsmovement.ca to be posted there for all to see, that quite plausably Robert Dziekanski had a Developmental Disability (ADD,etc). Email me at amida@citytel.net and the info I have will be forwarded. So far the Braidwood personel have been silent. It will show the other hidden factors that contributed to his death and why a TASER should NEVER, EVER be administered to some individuals. I am DEADLY SERIOUS! It was his Brain that stopped his Heart, his Breathing, his Life! All because he could not get the simple help he needed to connect with his Mom! Words alone can not adequately describe or colour this scenario, except one thing. Primal Scream! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primal_therapy

I have been greatly disturbed by what happened in the airport in Vancouver that day, as seen on video. It seems that nothing was attempted to be done to defuse the situation & to look at it from the perspective of the victim, who was a stranger in a strange land & did not understand the language.I wouold hate to think that I or someone I loved would be treated in such a manner on visiting another country.

When I watched the video I saw 4 armed cowards attack and kill an unarmed man. Then on the NEWS I saw more RCMP officers lie to cover up this cowardly crime. Legally speaking that makes him an Accessory After the Fact. Truth be known it makes every single RCMP officer Accessories After the Fact, because it is their duty to arrest murderers regardless of the costumes they wore when commiting the crime...Cops or not, they are guilty of Murder. In the END, they shall all stand before the true Judge and JUSTICE shall be served...lies will not save them then...and there will be screaming and gnashing of teeth. your humble servant, ancient clown

The R.C.M.P. have lost all credibility....They can and will get away with murder! I have seen the video many times and it breaks my heart! Was there no one who spoke Polish available to translate? I am worried about the Olympics being held in Vancouver....Who's next? My condolences to Robert's family!

Charge them criminally, and don't go easy. Police abuse is becoming much too commonplace, with the police being allowed to 'justify' anything they want.

these officers should face criminal charges and after jail never be allowed to work in any security force

This has been absolutely disgusting to watch. How dare the RCMP attempt to blame the victim for what happened to him. The RCMP is now just a joke to me, and to the rest of the world. They have tainted our reputation, and then can't even admit they made a mistake, and accept the consequences.

The RCMP were once a force to be looked up to and Canada held them in its highest honour. Recently however, I have lost my faith and respect for the RCMP. They are suppossed to protect and help the people, but it seems they have lost all sight of this and are just steps away from being seen as a legalized gang. Injustice should not ever be tolerated, and especially not when this injustice is created by the people we pay to stop it.

There are several indications that people in authority have learned nothing from Robert Dziekanski’s unnecessary death. The four RCMP officers are still on the payroll, including one who’s still on paid leave after allegedly killing a young man while driving drunk in October 2008. The RCMP brass who lied to the public are still holding their jobs, as are the RCMP investigators who travelled to Poland to try to smear the victim with unfair info. Stan Lowe, who took part in the Criminal Justice Branch decision to exonerate the four Mounties, has since been appointed B.C.’s police complaint commissioner. Now he can make similar decisions on behalf of B.C.’s municipal police. Unless we’re vigilant, the Robert Dziekanski tragedy can be repeated continuously.

The RCMP ARE sick and wrong. Airport polices are told to be more strict than those on the street. I think the Airports should have polices in Memory of Robert and the Police should have Policies too. I am scared of the RCMP. I want our own BC Police Force.

Having read most of the entries into this petition I am amazed knowing that nothing beyond the current Enquiry will be done about this. Robert had lived under communism, was a witness to the changes there, came to Canada to reunite with his mom, only to be MURDERED at the airport by the representatives of our state, and the way it keeps law and order in the land. Enough has been said, it is really time for action beyond what has been done. Real change needs to take place, police need to be treated the same way the rest of us are: no one is above the law, right? God bless Canada & God bless all who have responded to this public appeal! My heart goes out to you, Ms. Dziekanski. May you rest in the certainty that there is a HIGHER COURT we'll all answer to. Peace!

i think this government needs to get their priorities in order as all they are doing is making countries week and not doing their jobs i am personally sick of it all and like i said tazors are not safe they should be banned just like the submission chair they use in Texas to hold people still it has been known to kill we have rubber rounds and tear gas is that not all we need.

How is it when someone is hurt someone has to be held accountable. Unless the person inflicting the injury is (for lack of another word) someone in authority? Remember the law works because of our consent. Well since this happened you do not have my consent. Don't you dare say you did this for or in my name! Who protects us from them(those in authority) if not ourselves.

This is called MURDER. Proper punishment should be enforced as an example for other officers, who abuse their power of authority. Each one of us is in danger.Lets put a STOP to the inhuman treatment of another fellow man.

This is such a tragic story, I feel very sorry for Robert Dziekanski's mother, who worked 2 jobs in order to pay for her only child's airfare to come live with her in Canada. Obviously Mr Dziekanski was very distraught after realizing his mother wasn't there to meet him and he couldn't speak a word of English. So four burly police officers tazer him up to 5 times, why didn't they try to help him when they realized he wasn't breathing? There are defribilators at the airport to start people's hearts again - why wasn't this done? They just crouched over him and watched, I find this appalling, he might be alive today if they used that machine. One of the police officers killed a guy on a motorcycle (since the Dziekanski incident), he was off-duty but was driving after drinking alcohol - has anything been done about that? I hope I never have to call the police for anything, goodness knows what the outcome would be! I think the whole police force should be revamped.

It is apparent the training to RCMP officers is inadequate. The obvious mistruths that have been seen and heard throughout the inquiry make me wonder if it is actually possible to get a fair trial in this country. The conduct of the RCMP,the Government(Both Federal and Provincial)is reprehensible.
