Tell Your Lawmakers: No Discrimination In Georgia!

Proposed legislation in the Georgia Legislature would allow individuals and businesses to use their religious beliefs as an excuse to discriminate against others—including gay and transgender Georgians.

Religious freedom is one of our country's fundamental values. But that freedom does not give any of us the right to harm others. The so-called RFRA bill would allow individuals to use their religious beliefs as an excuse to harm others.

Far from protecting Georgians, this poorly written legislation could allow individuals to to claim that non-discrimination, child welfare, and domestic violence laws don't apply to them.

Discrimination against anyone is wrong. This bill would hurt our state's ability to attract and retain talented employees by making some people feel unwelcome.

Sign our petition now urging Georgia lawmakers to reject this harmful, ill-conceived legislation, then be sure to share with your friends!
I am writing to urge you to oppose the so-called Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Far from protecting Georgians, this poorly written legislation could allow individuals to to claim that non-discrimination, child welfare, and domestic violence laws don't apply to them. For instance, under this legislation, a police officer could refuse to defend a mosque or synagogue, a guidance counselor could deny help to a gay student, or a landlord could refuse to rent to a single mother all based on their religious beliefs.

Practically, this law could open up lawsuits challenging any law, policy, regulation, government action, or decision that an individual sees as conflicting with their religious exercise. This will result in costly lawsuits and increased costs to municipalities and taxpayers alike.

Discrimination against anyone is wrong. This bill would hurt our state's ability to attract and retain talented employees by making some people feel unwelcome.
Lawmakers in Atlanta should be focused on growing our state’s economy and passing legislation that will help all Georgia families - not on measures that will lead to discrimination against some citizens.

Please oppose RFRA.

Thank you,
