Demand for FYP extension

By signing this petition, we agree with the following statement of our fellow student, and demand an extension for the FYP. The grade of the FYP, being a double module in the last year (60%weighted), does clearly affect our overall grade and hence future job/master studies possibilities.
We truly hope you understand our concern and thank you for your consideration.

STATEMENT:
All,
It may be wishful thinking, but since my FYP tutor won't respond to my emails over the strike period, and I'm left trying to discern whether I'm on the right track in my essay, I've become a little bit frustrated.
These strikes are backed by the university and whilst I respect the right to strike, I don't particularly respect being part of the collateral damage, especially in my final year.
I'm wondering if there is a mandate to suggest an extension to the final draft and ultimate deadline by the 14 days in which many of us have been denied access to the most valuable resource offered by the university, our tutors.
I can't see on what basis the university could reject this if enough support is generated. The FYP grade could ultimately be the difference between a 2:2 or 2:1, 2:1 or 1st.
14 days of disruption within a month of the deadline is simply unacceptable. That should qualify as an extenuating circumstance at the very least.
I would hate to look back and think why I couldn't have done something about it if it unfairly affects my grade.
