For many of us in the United States, BBC America is one of the few portals of entertainment in the United Kingdom. When the channel was first launched, it focused on comedy, drama and lifestyle programs from BBC Television and other British television broadcasters like ITV and Channel 4. This was changed because of low viewership, but what needs to be understood is many of us were not offered the option of BBC America from our cable providers.
This has now changed and BBC America is offered by most cable providers in the US; it is available nationally by satellite provider Dish Network, DirecTV, and regionally by Xfinity by Comcast, Charter Communications, Cablevision, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Verizon FIOS, AT&T U-verse and some smaller providers. Britophiles want more options for British television and less American television that we can find on other channels. Please bring us more British shows!
