#FightForFunding: Get Teachers the Funding they Deserve

As Illinois enters its 10th month without a state budget, children are being affected.  This past Friday, Teachers went on strike because Chicago Public Schools remain underfunded.  Gloria Fallon, who teaches swimming at an elementary school on the South Side of Chicago, describes her dangerous experience claiming there have been days where she was left alone to look after 30 children in a pool by herself.  One teacher Brian Orlinsky at Spencer Technology Elementary School describes how there are not enough textbooks and current technology available for students.  The President of the American Federation of Teachers, Randi Weingarten calls cuts to funding as a “reckless disregard of children”

Action needs to be taken now. With nearly 400,000 children affected at Chicago Public Schools in Chicago, Governor Bruce Rauner needs to think about how his decisions are affecting each and every one of those children.  We should be prioritizing children and their education.

When asked his opinion about the strike Governor Bruce Rauner “described the strike as “shameful” and “breaking the law,” adding “it’s the height of arrogance from those we’ve entrusted with our children’s futures.”

Tell Governor Bruce Rauner to think about the children.

Please sign to tell Governor Bruce Rauner to get teachers the funding they deserve.

Governor Bruce Rauner,

I strongly urge you to pass a state budget as soon as possible.  As this creates cuts to funding to education, your choice is affecting thousands of children in Chicago.

Please get teachers the funding they deserve.
