Opposition to Oregon House Bill 2626 trying to re-leagalize cruel hound hunting for Cougars

  • by: PumawithaPC

Oregon voters passed Measure 18 in 1994 to ban the cruel use of vicious dogs to hunt for Mountain Lions and other predators. House Bill 2624 is an attempt by the hunting lobby to undermined the will of the Oregon voters by allowing counties to vote to ignore the hound hunting laws if they choose. Hound hunting involves using vicious dogs to tree a terrified animal which can then be killed at the hunters leisure. This form of hunting is borderline sadistic, it should not be allowed to exist within the United States. If you are a resident of Oregon please sign this petition to help stop this House Bill and pledge to stand up for Oregon's Cougars against these hunters.

To the Oregon State Legislative Assembly

We the undersigned wish to state our strong opposition to Oregon House Bill 2624. This house bill would allow the resumption of cruel hound hunting against Mountain Lions and other predators in the State of Oregon. In 1994 Measure 18 was passed by Oregon voters, outlawing this kind of hunting. These house bills are an attempt by the hunting lobby to undermine the will of Oregon voters. Instead we need to start taking action to give Cougars and other predators in the State of Oregon official protection form hunting and stop indulging special interests groups that find killing amusing.
