Don't burn NSW native forests to generate electricity

New South Wales native forests may end up in smoke if the Government gets its way. The NSW Government, headed by Premier Barry O'Farrell, has required the Environment Protection Authority to consult on removing a ban that currently prohibits the use of native forests for electricity.

The O’Farrell Government plans to generate electricity by burning forests currently used for woodchipping, or forests with tree species that are too hard to be used in paper and pulp production. This means prime koala habitat such as the forests of red gum, iron bark, bloodwood, grey box and woollybutt could end up in forest furnaces.

Demand that the NSW Government withdraws its applications to burn native forests for electricity!
