Middletown City Council member Dan Picard is proposing to give drug users two chances. Paramedics would respond to an overdose twice, each time the addict would receive a summons and be required to do community service after being treated.
But if they don't go to court or do their community service and overdose a third time, they won't send anyone to help them. They will let them die.
This proposal isn't Dan Picards solution to the growing opioid crisis here in America, but rather his solution to the financial hardships his town is facing. Yes, that's right money is the motive to withhold life saving treatment to an individual.
