Stop Illinois from Passing a Bill to Hurt Shelter Pets!

A dangerous bill has been moving through the Illinois legislature that will increase euthanasia at animal control facilities statewide. Senate Bill 648 requires that non-profit Illinois animal shelters and rescues turn over stray animals to their county animal control facility within one business day of intake. This means that shelters who take in sick and injured strays may not be able to provide these cats and dogs with the medical care they desperately need. This bill will increase the number of cats and dogs admitted to and euthanized at animal control facilities throughout the state and is a waste of taxpayer dollars. It further limits humane investigations into animal neglect and abuse.

If you are from Illinois go here: http://bestfriends.capwiz.com/bestfriends/issues/alert/?alertid=63203986    to submit a letter directly to your representative.  (Easy to fill out form!)

The bill has already passed the Senate. We need your help to keep this bad bill from passing the House!

THIS BILL HAS BEEN TABLED! Now we must continue to get as many signatures against this bill as possible while the Illinois State Representatives tqke time over the summer to reconsider this bill and its implications. Let's keep working hard to show them that we want to see them find a better solution for all the needy animals!
