Sign this petition as a show of support for the MDUSD school board decision on Wednesday 5/28/14 to reinstate elementary music education, and to request that all high school feeder patterns are represented on the committee exploring reinstatement methods.
Since every feeder pattern has unique challenges and situations with regards to music education, it is important to include parent and/or community representatives from all high schools in the school district. Although the Mt. Diablo Music Education Foundation is at the forefront of advocacy for elementary music education, the current board does not include representatives from all high schools. There are many parents on middle school and high school music booster organizations who can offer expert advice and support in the context of music education in their feeder pattern.
Our message to our superintendant and school board is: Thank you for listening and soliciting our feedback. We cannot express our gratitude for your action to bring back elementary music to our district. In this next stage, as you explore options for the reinstatement of music, please continue to listen to parents and give parent and community members from all high school feeder patterns the opportunity participate on the exploratory committee.
