Speak for Sunnie! Tell Timberlake Christian School to Apologize for Kicking her Out!

8-year-old Sunnie Kahle was recently kicked out of Timberlake Christian School in Lynchburg, Virginia because she has short hair, wears pants and likes sports!

In a letter to Sunnie's grandparents, the school, which professes Christian values, condemned young Sunnie for “sexual immorality; practicing homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity; promoting such practices; or otherwise having the inability to support the moral principles of the school.”

SHE'S ONLY 8-YEARS-OLD!

This outrageous response to this precious child cannot be tolerated. Sunnie's grandparents have placed her in the public school system. But she has been crying to go back to Timberlake. As a little girl, she simply doesn't understand the cruel actions of her former school. Naturally her grandparents have no intention sending her back under any circumstances, but Timberlake owes an apology to Sunnie and to the rest of their students! In addition, they need to reexamine their archaic policies that have no basis in the tolerance and love that Christianity teaches.

Speak for Sunnie!

Dr. W. Bryan Ferrell,

We (the undersigned) are appalled that Timberlake Christian School has kicked an 8-year-old little girl out of school because of the way she looks. This child has no concept of the accusations made against her for living an alternative lifestyle. Your schools actions has reportedly caused her great emotional distress as she was removed from what she felt was a safe, welcoming environment.

The concept of "Love they neighbor" is a hallmark of Christianity. Yet too many times its meaning is lost, misused or ignored. We encourage you to reexamine your policies that unfairly targets little children based on their appearance and we ask that you apologize to young Sunnie.

Sincerely,
