Let Einstein The Pig Stay With His Owner

A couple of weeks ago, Officer Barrett (he's with animal control/code enforcement), came to my door and issued a warning. He said nobody complained, he just happened to be driving by, and saw Einstein in my yard. I live in Athens, AL. I moved into this house in October last year. I had no idea that city ordinance here says no chickens or swine within city limits.
Officer Barrett told my counselor at Mental Health he fully intends to give me a $500 fine and a one year jail sentence, and take Einstein away from me.

Einstein is a micro-mini potbelly pig, bred to be a companion animal, not your average swine. Einstein is eight months old now and we are very bonded. His presence is theraputic to me, my doctors even agree!  Right now
I am on overload with anxiety and depression. I've been an insulin dependent diabetic for 40 years, I have heart disease, kidney disease, thyroid disease, retinopathy, neuropathy & my stomach is paralyzed. Now they want to take my pet pig from me, who is my constant companion after my mother died recently.

I spoke to a representative with North American Pot Bellied Pig Association (NAPPA), and she told me that as bonded to each other as Einstein & I are, that if he wasn't with me he would go into a deep depression and most likely die.

I've called the mayor, one of my senators, the governor and two TV stations, none of them are willing to help me. My landlords have seen Einstein and allowed him to live with me without even charging me a deposit. If Einstein is okay with my landlords, then why can't the city allow him? He is not hurting anyone or being disruptive.

Einstein is not swine, he is my companion pet therapeutic pig that I am trying to train to be a therapy pig for myself. I love him, and all of my animals, with my entire heart. Einstein makes me SO very happy! Please help me keep him by signing my petition. I'm not going to give up, he is family to me.

Dear Major William Marks,

Sherry Taylor's pet, Einstein, is not a threat to the community or nuisance. He is a micro-mini pot-bellied pig bred for companionship, not the dinner plate. My landlords will allow him, so why can't the city of Athens? He is not a swine to me, he is an intelligent creature who keeps me company.

I spoke with a representative with North American Pot Bellied Pig Association (NAPPA), and she told me that as bonded to each other as Einstein and I are, that if he wasn't with me he would go into a deep depression and most likely die. Please don't separate us, it could be deadly for Einstein! Please find it in your heart to reconsider my case.

Respectfully, Sherry Taylor
