Wind doesn't always blow at peak hours. Turbines don't live long enough for us to have them all online (at peak hours?) to replace the 37% of our electricity that comes from Nuclear Generating Plants. Wind turbine blades kill endangered species and the EPA was changed to allow turbines to do so with impunity. Turbines on Crown Land don't even have to have fire supression equipment when we KNOW that 85% of all turbine repairs are due to lightening strikes and that 32% of all forest fires in Ontario are caused by lightening. The new laws make it easy for turbines and the people who elected the government are being ignored.
We are not ignorant of the facts. We know turbines won't do it and that we will have an additional 6 BILLION dollars in prvincial debt from this crazy Green Grab.
WHEREAS The Unorganized Townships of Lorrain & South Lorrain are being considered as hosts for construction of extensive wind farms on both Crown land and Privately owned land,
AND WHEREAS the citizens of these townships, the Land Owners, Residents, Outdoor Enthusiasts, Tourists and Cottagers, are opposed to these proposed Large Renewable Energy Projects in principle and in several specific aspects,
AND WHEREAS there have been insufficient assessments, studies or reviews by independent, accredited specialists regarding the environmental, geological and community lifestyle impact of a wind farm in this location,
WE the undersigned petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Minister of Energy shall ensure that the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) conducts complete Community, Environmental and Geological Assessments of the Silver Centre Wind Project (wpd Canada), the Friday Lake Wind Energy Center EDF EN Canada inc.) and any other presently unidentified Wind Energy Projects, and all of their associated parameters before the Project can be considered for approval.
