Friends of Chinatown
...Representing Calgarians the Chinatown Residents, Property Owners, Business Owner /Operator, Associations and Society, Visitors, and Tourists, and Community Stakeholders undersigned
We support the eight (8) Guiding Principles for Chinatown Development as approved by City Council (December 2016) for the:
• Establishment of a Cultural Plan for Chinatown;
• Development of a Culturally-Led Local Area Plan for Chinatown; and the
• Redevelopment of existing Chinatown lands / buildings until replaced by new Chinatown Local Area Plan.
However, the Calgary's Chinese-Asian community and Chinatown entities must have
'FIRST VOICE' and 'ULTIMATE DETERMINATION'
in how Chinatown's:
• (135-year) history, heritage, culture, and social fabric is protected;
• future culture, social fabric and physical environment is defined;
• residents and visitors are kept safe, secure and socially healthy;
• property ownership wealth and business prosperity grows and thrives;
• cultural associations, societies and religious groups remain community pillars;
• Chinese and Asian culture has ample space to celebrate through events and festivals; and
• tourist and visitors can realize a 'world-class' Chinatown experience through land, building, parks, recreation, public infrastructure, economic, social and environmental development initiative.
Therefore, the Calgary Chinese-Asian Community Wants their voices heard FIRST in all land, building and a community planning and applications for land use change and land development. 因此,卡加利市及华埠社區内的华人及各亞裔人仕都希望能在华埠所有土地,建築,社區規劃,以及土地用途改動和土地開發應用各方面首先發聲表達意見。
We also need our voices heard LAST before any decisions are made in accordance with the City Council's approved eight (8) Guiding Principles for Chinatown development. 更需要市議會依據唐人街發展指引的八（8）原則處理唐人街發展事項，並在最終決議前再次聽取我們的發音及意見。
