Bring back 40s on 4, SiriusXM!

On 26 March 2014, SiriusXM's management replaced 40s on 4, a satellite channel dedicated to the artists of the Greatest Generation, with three months of continuous Billy Joel compositions. Billy Joel can be heard on virtually every contemporary pop station as well as on various other Sirius satellite channels including 70s on 7, 80s on 8, and 90s on 9, since his music spans multiple decades.

In contrast, the music played on 40s on 4 cannot be found anywhere else: Benny Goodman, Harry James, Glenn Miller, The Dorsey Brothers and many others do not get any airtime despite their continuous popularity amongst people of all ages. SiriusXM's decision to replace regular programming with Billy Joel music is unacceptable. Granted, the regular programme can still be heard on-line, but most people listen to satellite radio in their cars, and do not have the equipment/data plan to allow for unlimited on-line streaming. Besides, there are numerous free Internet channels that provide very competitive programming, making SiriusXM's offer unattractive and even superfluous.

Despite thousands of complaints on Sirius's Facebook page, the company has failed to address customers' frustrations! The phone representatives are unable to assist, and are either unable or unwilling provide contact information for the programming department.

We want:

1. Our favourite music back NOW! If necessary, move it to another channel, but bring back regular programming immediately!

2. Stop using 40s on 4 for your experiments and trials!

3. Provide a credit or refund for lost programming!

4. Apologise to your paying customers for your appalling lack of communication and customer service!

Your decision to change regular programming on 40s on 4 and replace it with continuous Billy Joel music is unacceptable, and has angered thousands of paying subscribers. Billy Joel's music is available on multiple channels, including Sirius's own 70s on 7, 80s on 8, 90s on 9 and Classic Rewind, whilst the music of the Greatest Generation is impossible to find anywhere else.


I, along with thousands of others, am deeply angered by your lack or response and your customer service representatives' inability or unwillingness to provide appropriate contact information.


We demand the following:


1. Our favourite music back NOW! If necessary, move it to another channel, but bring back regular programming immediately!


2. Stop using 40s on 4 for your experiments and trials!


3. Provide a credit or refund for lost programming!


4. Apologise to your paying customers for your appalling lack of communication and customer service!
