Two horses die in one day at the race track!

Would anyone dare to dismantle an American tradition? On May 21, 2016, two horses died in the first four races at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. The race was not postponed due to severe weather to include driving rain and 20mph wind gusts. These horses were subjected to race on a muddy track, because the show must go on! Winner of the first race, Homeboykris, 9 years old, collapsed and died on the way back to the barn after posing at the winner's circle. An apparent heart attack is suspected. Four year old Pramedya collapsed in the middle of the 4th race with a broken front leg and was euthanized on the track.

Thankfully PETA is on the case calling for immediate release of the horses' vet records and a list of meds given in the two weeks prior to the race. Studies and investigations have shown that breakdowns and deaths occur because of pre-existing injuries that are masked by excessive use of legal meds. Yes, LEGAL! Do we not care about the plight of racing horses like we do Greyhound racers? Why are we allowing any form of animal abuse to continue to be a part of American entertainment?
