I believe that the focus on juvenile criminals should be geared toward rehabilitation opposed to punishment. When juveniles are put in the adult prisons, they are subject to a harsh reality. They are put beside adults who have no desire to better themselves. These adults stoop to low levels and are quite abusive. There is a juvenile system for a reason and to expect children to act like adults is unjust
"Trying minors as adults represents a double standard in the legal system: a 15 year-old is too young and stupid to decide for himself whether cigarettes are something he should buy, but he is of sound adult mind when firing a gun in the midst of an argument."- Hannah McCrea
