Investigate Horse Deaths from HBO's "Luck"!

  • by: Chris Wolverton
  • recipient: Steve Cooley, Los Angeles District Attorney

HBO's horse racing series, "Luck," was cancelled in March 2012 after a third horse died during production. A month later, a whistleblower released documents including emails, notes and complaints from American Humane Association (AHA) representatives on the set that indicate further mistreatment of "Luck's" horses.

The documents allege that horses were underfed to save money and regularly drugged to keep them tranquil on the set. In addition, sick, underfed, young and improperly trained horses were used in filming, including racing sequences. According to the documents, some sick horses disappeared from the set without explanation.

The abuse indicated in the internal AHA documents is unacceptable. The health and lives of animals are more important than any TV series or movie. Please sign the petition to convince the Los Angeles District Attorney to investigate the horse deaths in HBO's "Luck."
