Fair Compensation for Foreigners in Finland for Racism over Employment!

Recently YLE, the Finnish national broadcaster has reported that Finland has failed to deal with racism adequately. The result is many foreigners have not had the chance to develop careers, support their families or participate in society fully.

Due to this negligence many of us have seen our societies impoverished and the direct result is racism has not been properly tackled. Those people who have committed themsleves to Finland and Finnish society by participating where they can should be compensated for the effects of this racism on their lives.

This petition calls for these effects to be recognized as something that impacts on individuals (not just nation states economic well-being) and for compensation to be paid at a fair rate to those individuals. For lost earnings, lost pension contributions and career development opportunities.

A way to do this would be to look at the educational level of an individual and average earnings for a comparable person who did have the benefits of work over the period the racism ruined their lives. Pay those people what they would have earned if they had been an unemployed worker (usually about 80% of the paid salary). And pay pension contributions the same so that when retired they can at last have an equal standard of retirement as if they had been allowed to work.

This is not the only way, but recognition and compensation should be paid for racism, that has been allowed to fester, due to negligence of the Finnish state.

There is no letter here, I want to raise this issue and so that it goes onto the agenda for serious consideration. If you feel so moved to write a letter please contact your local or European Parliamentarian. If outside the EU then please write to the EU Commision.
