Stop the cell tower at Poinciana Elementary School

On August 14, 2013, without prior notice to the parents and the surrouding community, the School Board of Collier County constructied  a 75-foot-high cell tower  on the parking lot at Poinciana Elementary School, Naples, Florida. Cell towers emit large amounts of radiation, endangering the health of our children and surrounding residents.  Studies have shown that the effect of radiation from cell towers on people living and/ or working within one quarter mile of a cell tower is detrimental l to their health. Such people have been shown to have seven times the risk of lymphoma and other cancers. Other counties in Florida, including Palm Beach County and Polk County have banned cell towers at public schools.

Why are our children being put at risk? The School Board of Collier County stands to profit from the lease payments to be made by the cell phone provider.  Shouldn't the School Board  be more concerned with the health of our children rather than the profits to be made?

By signing this petition you are helping us demand that the School Board remove  the cell tower from school grounds and install it at a commercial location far away from schools and homes.

Thank you!
