NO TO EMISSARIES OF BURUNDI’S OPPRESSING REGIME IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

On 28th of August 2000, when both sides of  BURUNDI conflict signed a Peace Agreement in Arusha – Tanzania, a processes that was facilitated by late President Nelson Mandela and other world leaders, the rest of the world hoped BURUNDI was moving for ever from a cyclic conflict that had killed thousands of innocent people in that small East African Nation . The victory of CNDD FDD in 2005, was for many Burundians perceived as both a new chapter in the history of BURUNDI and the hope that they will soon start to enjoy the dividend of peace.

But the decision of President Nkurunziza to run for the third term despite Burundi's National Assembly vote against his will and many advices from Burundi's main ALLIES such as USA, BELGIUM, FRANCE, the rest of EUROPEAN UNION including UK, asking the President not to do so came as a sword in the flesh for many Burundians.

After President Nkurunziza was proclaimed the winner of that sole political competition, everyone who dared to oppose his illegal third mandate became subject to tortures, detention and even assassination. Horrendous, cruel, inhuman and degrading atrocities have been committed by security forces (Army and Police) in close collaboration with the “Documentation”-Burundi’s Intelligence Services- and “Imbonerakure”-a government militia. Crimes committed by those state controlled agencies and institutions have included MUTILATIONS, BODY BURNING WITH ACID, BEHEADING, REMOVAL OF ORGANS LIKE HEART OR GENITAL PARTS and many more. People were found in their homes, arrested, brutalised or simply executed, young girls RAPED in their parents' presence and many young boys aged between 15 and 25 have been slaughtered  in most populated Tutsi areas in Bujumbura, without any explanation on the motives and circumstances.

So far, CNDD FDD and its emanating government have killed over one thousand people, 800 hundred have been kidnapped and undergone extra- judiciary executions, 4000 people are being jailed without any tangible reason according to reports from International organisations and Local NGO’s such as Human Right Watch and SOS TORTURES BURUNDI. Recently, the UN has admitted that there are grounds under which one could think that a genocide might be happening. Early in March 2016, Experts on Genocide have met in International Conference on Burundi in Manchester, UK, led by Professor Gregory Stanton,-a famous Genocide Scholar- and concluded that Burundi was heading straight forward to a Genocide.

Currently, former members of the ruling party who defected after President Nkurunziza decided to run for the controversial term announced publicly CNDD FDD’s intention to kill targeted groups in Burundi including Tutsi Minority. If the international community doesn’t act quickly, tomorrow might be too late to avoid another Rwanda in the Greatlakes region.

But all this is happening while those who help President Nkurunziza to commit atrocities in Burundi enjoy prestigious positions in Europe and North America.
One of them is Ambassador Ernest Ndabashinze. This representative of the Nkurunziza in the west is praised by his boss as one of the defender of the crimes that Nkurunziza is commiting to innocent Burundian. Recently he publicly said that Burundi will not accept the UN initiative to send peace keepers in Burundi, supporting his government which had gone as far as saying that they will consider peace keepers as invaders and fight them. In an interview with the Voice of America, he declined the importance of Arusha Agreement and said that "referring to it is a mistake".They are anonymous sources from Burundi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his Native commune of Mbuye-Muramvya- that he was involved in the distribution of arms to the Imbonerakure Militia in 2010. This Ambassador of Nkurunziza to Washington is now transferred to London.

Up to date, the UK had managed to prevent Burundians accused of serious crimes to enter its territories, an act Members of Burundian Diaspora in the UK appreciate heartedly.

This petition seeks to plead to the UK government and parliament to refuse the accreditation of Ambassador Ndabashinze. Receiving his letters of credence would be cooperating with people whose role in the killing of innocent civilians is obvious.
