Stop Advertising Unrealistic Body Shapes and Weights!

Have you noticed how clothing marketers and businesses all over the US advertise, to women men, and children, extremely thin and even unhealthy looking models and mannequins. The problem here is the fact that these advertisements can greatly and negatively affect women, men, and children. This is because many people who see these advertisements can feel insecure and like they are not good enough for society. These advertisements make a lot of people feel like they should not shop for clothing at certain stores because they don't look like the sickeningly thin mannequins and models plastered all over the clothing store. These issues people may face can result in a number of different mental and physical health disorders such as anorexia or bulimia nervosa. This issue doesn't only apply for marketing clothes, either! In most magazines or any advertisement, really, the women and men displayed are terribly thin and have absolutely no blemishes or many other human qualities, for that matter. These models could be compared to Barbie dolls before comparing them to real people. This gives people the message that you must be thin and have no blemishes on your body to be beautiful. The bigger issue, however is young girls and boys who see these models and mannequins. Do we really want our children to look up to this? Do we really want our children's favorite movie star, popstar, superhero, etc. To be photoshopped so much that they barely look like an actual human being? Clothing marketers, magazine editors etc. Should no longer market unrealistic mannequins and models. Editors should no longer Photoshop everyone's favorite celebrity! People shouldn't have to feel like they are not good enough or thin enough to shop at a certain clothing store. Mannequins should be made in realistic sizes that are cutout for everyone, not just the small percent of people who are petite and very thin. If these changes were made, everyone would have a better chance of acceptance toward themselves and others! Many people could become much less self conscious and insecure! Children wouldn't be exposed to an unhealthy life style resulting in a lesser chance of an eating disorder and other mental and physical health disorders.
