Save the Beluga Whales!

Anglo American and Rio Tinto have left a SHOCKING and reported trail of toxic contamination that stretches from Indonesia to Bolivia, from Zimbabwe to Nevada. Mercury pollution, poisoned rivers, undrinkable water... the mines' toll of devastation has been felt around the world!

Now they want us to entrust them with one of America's last and greatest wild areas: Bristol Bay. They mine will be so vast in scale, it will be deep enough to swallow the Empire State Building. If groundwater fills that huge open pit- which it eventually almost certainly will- then that water will mix with mining ore and oxygen to produce a toxic lake filled with the equivalent of battery acid!

In the event of an earthquake in this seismically active area   billions of tons of contaminated waste could be be released into the salmon run that funnels straight down into Bristol Bay! And if that's not frightening enough, the companies want to build a deep-water port for ocean-going ship traffic in the midst of Cook Inlet- directly threatening the last 284 beluga whales that cling to life there!

Hi. I'm a 11 year old girl who started the 3R's Club (reduce, reuse, recycle) with some of my close friends. We attend Hidden Valley Elementary School in Santa Rosa, California, and when I saw this, I was horrified. We started a petition around school and so far 58 people have signed it, but we are the future, KIDS-not yet old enough to vote.  Just old enough to care.  We are sending the signatures to NRDC who were probably one of the first groups to speak against it.

Please join us and sign our petition to stop those businesses tycoons from killing so much wildlife!
Join the 3R's Club and NRDC! Together, we can save the beluga whales!
read our petition to see why what your doing is terrible! we dont see why you must do this!
