STOP The Inhumane Treatment of our Wild Horses

I am so irate and exasperated that I can hardly write.
I have to admit that the term wild horse never crossed my mind until around 2012, when I began to research and became deeply involved in learning about the BLM's (Bureau of Land Management) policies regarding the management of our wild horses and burros. I am writing to warn all of you about this great danger facing all of our wild horses. In the wake of the tragic death of Cecil the lion, there is another issue regarding a wild protected animal that you should be aware of. Grulla (#3907) the name and number the BLM gave to this 26 year old proud wild stallion, who once was free, then imprisoned in a holding pen after another round up of wild horses by the BLM.
Now in his tragic death, Grulla is once again illustrating the true cose of the BLM's wild horse roundup and stockpile program. In death he is showing the world that the only place for a wild horse is in the wild. Grulla escaped the first roundup but was captured in a second roundup by the BLM. He was auctioned off to the highest bidder, however, the bidder never came through. He was then saved by people who cared about his life and he was to go to a private sanctuary and transportation was paid for to get Grulla to his safe haven. If he had not been rescued he would have remained imprisoned. The BLM would not release him until he had been gelded. It was during this procedure that Grulla died. The cause of death according to the BLM was cardiac arrest or heart attack. Most of you reading this probably had no idea that wild horses and burros still exist. Reality is that they do exist and they are supposedly protected by laws to be allowed to roam free, but, they are not. The actuality is that if you are not thinking about them, now is the time to begin. Wild horses are the epitomy of magnificence, intellingence and strength, the most noble of creatures. It was the horse that helped this Country evolve and we could never have settled this Country without them.
In closing I believe, we must stand untied against the senseless, cruel and inhumane BLM government policy that continually rounds up and removes our wild horses from their public ranges. This practice traumatizes and terrorizes wild horses, breaks up their families and forever robs them of their freedom and breaks their spirit. To honor Grulla's memory, we must stand up not stand by and continue to speak out against BLM policies that DO NOT PROTECT but serve to destroy these living symbols of history and liberty. Please contact your elected Representatives and the White House to emphatically request that they act now to protect our wild horses and burros. I sincerely hope that you will be motivated and prompted to take action in helping to protect our wild horses from extinction, they are part of America's heritage.
