Save Monarch Butterflies by Protecting Their Habitat

I thrill at the sight of a beautiful butterfly gracing my yard and flowers surrounding my patio. They are so beautiful and elegant but seem to be dwindling in numbers.

Over the past 20 years, laws have been implemented to protect these beautiful creatures, but until these laws are fully enforced, the butterflies are in danger.

Monarchs feed on the nectar of milkweed plants and need them to breed. However, milkweed habitat for monarchs is quickly disappearing throughout all of North America. It is important that steps be taken immediately to preserve this vital habitat before it disappears.

Urge the Environmental Protection Agency to enforce land-clearing protections to save monarch habitat. The law already exists and has for years but it has not been fully enforced. Add your name to help protect these graceful beingsfor future generations.

Administrator McCarthy:

I strongly urge you to take crucial steps to save imperiled monarch butterflies by more rigorously enforcing land-clearing protections to safeguard the habitat these beautiful creatures need to survive.

In order to provide the protection of these vulnerable creatures of beauty, you need to enforce the protections against conversion of untilled lands in the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). These areas are quickly disappearing along with the monarch butterfly and other wildlife species that depend on them for their survival.

It is crucial that you protect this vital habitat. A provision needs to be implemented that includes clear protections against converting untilled lands to cropland for the sake of biofuel crop production. Please enforce land-clearing protections to save monarch habitat to the fullest extent of the law.

Sincerely,
